National Institutes of Health Research Education Program 

The GSRM program was established in 2019 with a National Institutes of Health Research Education Program R25 grant. The purpose of the R25 grant is to foster a better understanding of biomedical and clinical research and its implications, to research careers in biomedical, behavioral and clinical sciences, and to meet the nation’s biomedical and clinical research needs by enhancing workforce training.

 

National Human Genome Research Institute 

The National Human Genome Research Institute NHGRI is a leading authority in the field of genomics and funds training and career development programs at academic, medical and other institutions to support the robust study and treatment of specific diseases.

 

Department of Pediatrics Research Education 

The GSRM program is one of six programs the Pediatrics Research Education Office supports. The Research Education Office is located within the School of Medicine and dedicated to providing the best clinical and basic science research opportunities for undergraduate students, medical students, residents, fellows, and faculty. They strive to meet the personalized needs of each of the students, working to create a pipeline for future researchers and physicians.

 

Office of Undergraduate Research (OUR)

OUR facilitates and promotes undergraduate student-faculty collaborative research and creative works in all disciplines throughout the University of Utah campus. All GSRM program participants are given valuable instruction through OUR's Undergraduate Research Education Series and Grad School Mini Expo.  OUR also provides a research presentation opportunity at OUR's Undergraduate Research Symposium in July/August. OUR supports undergraduate research through: funding travel & small grants, Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP) scholarships, Summer Program Undergraduate Research experiences, and scholarships. OUR advances undergraduate research with semester symposia and publication opportunities with RANGE:  Undergraduate Research Journal

 

Spencer S. Eccles Health Sciences Library 

The Spencer Eccles Health Sciences Library has many informational resources available for students, researchers, clinicians, and educators, such as electronic journals, research databases, Interlibrary loans, and textbooks. The Library's faculty and staff is available to assist all GSRM program participants with navigating research tools and creating scientific posters.

 

Spencer F. Eccles School of Medicine 

The Spencer F. Eccles School of Medicine at the University of Utah serves all people and communities of Utah and the Mountain West by intentionally supporting and improving individual and community health outcomes and quality of life. The School of Medicine offers multiple programs: MD, Medical Scientist Training Program (MD/PhD), Physician Assistant, Public Health, and Medical Laboratory Science. In 2023, they received US World and News Report's Awards for Best Grad School for conducting medical research, providing primary care, and serving rural areas.
