  1. Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. The National Human Genome Research Institute encourages participation from all individuals, including individuals from groups shown to be underrepresented in health-related sciences, and those defined by National Institutes of Health.
  2. Be enrolled in a four-year college for Fall 2025, with a graduation date of December 2025 or later.
  3. Have completed their sophomore year before attending our GSRM program. Sophomore students are encouraged to apply.
  4. No previous research is required, but applicants must demonstrate a strong interest in genomics, bioinformatics, and precision medicine research.
  5. Have a strong interest in pursuing graduate school (PhD or MD/PhD).
  6. Must be available to work 40 hours per week Monday through Friday for a 10-week period, beginning May 28 and ending August 1, 2025.
  7. Past GSRM students can be considered for a second summer track if they still meet all criteria mentioned above.
