Message from our Chief

Antonio Cabrera

The Division of Pediatric and Congenital Cardiology at the University of Utah is nationally and internationally recognized as leaders in research, education, and clinical care. We strive to provide exceptional cardiac care to patients in a range of areas to include the prevention of heart disease, as well as the treatment of an array of congenital and acquired heart disease such as structural heart disease, valvular disorders, cardiomyopathies and advanced heart failure and cardiac transplant.

Our outstanding practice is comprised of faculty dedicated to innovative and integrative patient care in both outpatient, private and public facilities. The locations include world-class organizations such as Primary Children’s Hospital Salt Lake and Lehi Miller Campuses (2024), University of Utah Hospital, Intermountain Medical Center along with affiliated institutions throughout the intermountain west communities.

We work daily to preserve the legacy of our founder, L. George Veasy, MD, a caring and outstanding cardiologist leader, and several other renowned physicians in the field that have emerged from this program.  As one of the larger pediatric cardiology programs in the country, the fellows in our training program are afforded access to experts in every subspecialty. The incredible clinical environment, the active educational curriculum and robust research opportunities provide our fellows with every opportunity to succeed in their careers, whatever the path.  We have strong research programs in all areas of pediatric and congenital disease including partnerships with basic and clinical researchers throughout the University of Utah and Intermountain Healthcare, across the United States and internationally to develop new approaches for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of cardiovascular disease.

Please explore our website to learn more about our outstanding programs. We are committed to kindness while caring, healing suffering, and preventing death from all forms of pediatric and congenital cardiac disease.
