About Me
Residency: University of Colorado, Denver, CO
Dr. Simek was raised in Washington, outside of Seattle, before she moved to Colorado for her undergraduate studies, medical school and pediatric residency. When it came time for fellowship, moving back to the western side of the Rocky Mountains was the perfect choice for her and her family. Alongside her husband, Matt, their son, Calan, and their furry family members, Dr. Simek enjoys the accessibility of the Salt Lake City area outdoors and family-friendly activities.
Dr. Simek’s research interests include quality improvement and harnessing technology to create safer care for babies. Together with her mentors, Dr. Con Yee Ling and Dr. Peter Grubb, she is working on improving early detection of late-onset sepsis in the Primary Children’s NICU. Dr. Simek loves getting to work with her amazing co-fellows, learn from all the wonderful faculty and build relationships with parents and their infants in the many stages of a NICU journey.
